track3track2
An area of approximately 64 sqm x 64 sqm for the elevated track – 88 prims complete
And an area of approx 118 sqm x 116 sqm for the large flat track – 100 prims completelargetrack

The demonstration/Starter course is small for convenience and if your going to build your own track this is the easiest option to start with if you are new to building.

(B) All the individual components to build your own track however you want

1) Scoreboards, Top 10 scores, Last 10 runs and 1 small pyramid (Web Link) this links to a Linden web page and saves all your Top scores online.(Up to 100 competitors top scores for each event)
System counts missed check points, time and calculates a score for each runner.

5) Independent faults option, enclosed is a ‘hay bale’ fault but you can make any modify object into a fault with the scripts supplied

Race tracks in rezzers and all components are copy/mod so if you want to use parts to make your own design or adjust the one we have supplied you can.
or
You can rez the smaller demonstration/Starter track and extend that to whatever shape and size you want.

Setup for Demonstration course and the road race course in the rezzers

These pre built courses can be used as the start of your own course or used as a reference when building a new course with the components in the folder, this demo course is small for convenience so use ‘walk’ or ‘Trot’ speeds on the cart, you can of course move the gates further apart if you wish.

Simply drag the Rezzer to the ground from your inventory.
Position it roughly in the center of your area.
You will need approx 32 sqm X 64 sqm for the Cart Race demonstration/Starter course and an area of approximately 64 sqm x 110 sqm for the road race course .

If your intention is to build your own course its better to rez the demonstration/Starter course as its smaller and easier to work on.

Click the rezzer and select build, all the parts will rezz and position themselves, it is good practice to click the position tab after it has finished just to make sure all parts are in place.

You can move the whole course to where you want it by moving the rezzer in edit.
Once the course is in position select the ‘done’ tab to finish.

********** *************
First touch the control post to get the menu and click ‘MasterReset’, this will send the channel for your scoreboards to your chat window, make a note of this. (if at some point you make a course with a different course number you will get a different channel

IMPORTANT, DO NOT CROSS THE START LINE BEFORE THE NEXT STEP
Next on the control post menu select ‘Setup’ –

This will give you a menu to set limits on which carts can be used.

All = any cart can be used.
This means if land build permissions are set to anyone, then anyone can rez any type of cart and use it.

Group = only carts set to the same group as the system can be used.
This means if Land build permissions are set to group only then any group member can rez any cart and use it.

Owner = only carts supplied by the owner of the system can be used.
This means that regardless of Land permissions only the carts you supply in the rezzer can be used-
*For competitions this is the best option as everyone must use the same carts.*

Note*
If after you have deleted the rezzer box you wish to move the start line then after moving it redo your selection as above (the start line needs to know its position in the sim to function properly, re-selecting this option also resets the positioning script)
*******************************************************************************************

Next menu
(Race reset and Main menu options)
you do not need to worry about ‘race parameters we have set these for you so just click ‘RaceReset’

******* That’s it your done ready to compete and run events *********

Lap counter is set on 2 laps on pre built courses, if you want to change it see below
This is optional, if you only want one lap you can leave it out/remove it or just set to one lap.
To set the number of laps click into edit on the lap counter and enter a number into the description field and reset the the scripts in the lap counter contents.

Next since you have changed the number of laps you have to change the ‘Obstacle/Sensor/Gate count’ in the settings note card as each will be used once for each lap.
EG: 1 lap, 10 gates on the course = 10 beside the obstacle count setting
Change to 2 laps and count rises to 20, 4 laps = 40 and so on.

Next now calculate and enter a new ‘target time’ related to how many laps you have set’ you may have to do test runs to find this out.

Resetting the scores
Access is through the control post
Use the control post menu ‘Scores’ tab.
options are to reset -top, -Last, -web or -all scores

Adding other people to Admin:
You can add people to have full power over the system and access the admin options in the control post.
To do this just select the ‘Access’ tab and the access menu will be given to you and follow the instructions on the menus

Options are

Owner.
Group.
Create a list of people to have access.
Set a password to give access.

You can add avatar names via chat or enter the name on the ‘access’ note card, the note card is the default setting so if you want to put the complete system with scoreboards already setup into your own rezzer your admin list is loaded automatically.  To update names added via the note card click on the ‘Load db’ tab, this will load updated names from the note card

Build your own Track
————————————————————————

Probably best to start with the ‘Start/Finish straight section, this has a cutaway on one side, this allows access to both sides of the start finish line, but it is up to you.

Straight sections – there is one with a sensor and one without, adding a few sections with a sensor ensures no one can take shortcuts but you don’t need a sensor in every straight section. Just stretch each section as required, you may want to reset texture repeats if longer etc or you can re texture as you please.

Curves – the curve in the folder is a 180 deg curve, just use the ‘path cut’ option in the edit object tab to to reduce or enlarge the curve. I do not advise stretching the curve unless your willing to reset the width of the straights to match.

Elevated courses can be built if you wish but, I would suggest no more than 2 point off the vertical on the standard ‘snap to grid’ scale for each up or down ramp but the choice is yours.
————————————————————————————-

Once your track is built-

Drag the ‘Race control system’ onto the start position
There are 3 parts to this so I have put it into a rezzer for easy positioning.

Click the rezzer and select build, all the parts will rezz and position themselves relative to the rezzer box

Click ‘position on the rezzer menu to make sure all parts are correctly located

Move the rezzer box in edit to position the control system on your track the arrow indicate direction of travel.
It is good practice to click the position tab after you have finished just to make sure all parts are in place.

Cilck the rezzer to get the menu and select ‘Done’ ………………Delete the rezzer

********** *************
Now your start in is place- go to the control post, click and select ‘Setup’ –

This will give you a menu to set limits on which carts can be used.

All = any cart can be used.
This means if land build permissions are set to anyone, then anyone can rez any type of cart and use it.

Group = only carts set to the same group as the system can be used.
This means if Land build permissions are set to group only then any group member can rez any cart and use it.

Owner = only carts supplied by the owner of the system can be used.
This means that regardless of Land permissions only the carts you supply in the rezzer can be used-
*For competitions this is the best option as everyone must use the same carts.*
Note*
If you wish to move the start line after deleting the rezzer then after moving it redo your selection as above (the start line needs to know its position in the sim to function properly, reselecting this option also resets the positioning script)

Race Sensors
—————–
These track each racer to ensure they follow the correct route, missing sensors will make for a deduction in the final score and will be recorded on the scoreboards

The sensors are in the straight sections as per the above.
Configuring the Sensors and Race controller

This is a little bit fiddly so I am giving it to you in small steps

1) Decide on a number for your course, lets say for example its course number 21
Click edit on the start line and in the description box type 2100.

Now move onto your first sensor section and in the description box type 2101, second sensor section 2102 and so on, if you have a course with 32 sensors the last sensor will be 2132 ( you can have up to 99 sensors in one course)

2) Go back over each sensor section including the start and click into edit, in the contents tab of each sensor click the ‘reset scripts’ tab, this forces the scripts to read the object description so it know what course it is on and its position in that course eg: ‘I am part of course number 21, I am the 12th sensor’.

3) Click into edit on the control post and open the ‘settings’ notecard.
you will see these lines:
course_number|||9
obstacle_count|||19 (obstacle_count=(sensor count))
target_time|||45

Enter your course number after the ||| and do the same for the number of sensors in the course. The target time is something you need to work out depending on the size of the course, you can change this later if you wish but for now just have a guess, the numbers are seconds. so 120 would be 2 minutes to complete the course.
(Tip- try to make the target time about 5-10 seconds faster than the fastest expected time)

*save the notecard*

********** IMPORTANT*************
Watch your chat window as the notecard is saved, it will give you a ‘channel Number’ make a note of this as you will need it to link the scoreboards to your system, it is unique to you and your track.

You can get the scoreboards channel number again by clicking ‘MasterReset’ in the control post (it wont affect notecard settings)
********************************

4) Now click on the control post to reset the race.

5) Faults –
Included is a separate fault as a ‘Hay Bale’ you can set these anywhere on the course, set the object description field as per the start line eg: 2100 and name it as per above reset the scripts. DO NOT COUNT THESE AS OBSTACLES IN THE SETTINGS THEY ARE INDEPENDENT FAULTS

You can set the Name box at the same time in the faults EG; Hay bale 1, 2 etc. Whatever you put in the name box will be in the in race fault announcements you could if you wanted have ‘Hay bale 12 beside the stream’ or anything.

If you want to copy the contents of the hay bale you can put in any mod object to create a fault, on one of our demo courses at Wildfire we used Mushrooms as faults, its up to you.
——————————————————————————————
Lap counter
This is optional, if you only want one lap you can leave it out/remove it or just set to one lap.
To set the number of laps click into edit on the lap counter and enter a number into the description field and reset the the scripts in the lap counter contents.

Next since you have changed the number of laps you have to change the ‘Obstacle/Sensor count’ in the settings note card as each will be used once for each lap.
EG: 1 lap, 10 sensors on the course = 10 beside the obstacle count setting
Change to 2 laps and count rises to 20, 4 laps = 40 and so on.

Next now calculate and enter a new ‘target time’ related to how many laps you have set’ you may have to do test runs to find this out.

********* Save the settings notecard.*************

Click RaceReset on the control post and your done

————————————————————————————————————-
Scoreboards

Drag the score board rezzer onto the ground, click and select build from the menu, position as required with edit on the rezzer box, the scoreboards will re position themselves accordingly . Click the rezzer again and select the ‘Done’ option this deletes the positioning scripts and you can now delete the rezzer.
*Note on faux rezzers – if a part does not move into position click the rezzer again and click ‘position’ this will force the part to the correct location.

Configuring the Scoreboards
Click edit on each scoreboard in turn, go to the contents tab and open the settings notecard, look for this line channel,-2456
Paste or type your score channel after the comma.
*Save*

To configure the web Score board in the pyramid just do the same as above

Close the edit window and click on the control post to reset.

******* Thats it your done ready to compete*********

As a final check go to ‘view transparent’ (Ctrl + Alt + T) and drive a cart over the start line, you should see the Race sensors rez in position, if some do not appear you have probably forgotten to reset scripts or the sensor description field is set wrong
——————————————————————————————

Resetting the scores
Access is through the control post

Adding other people to Admin:
You can add people to have full power over the system and access the admin options in the control post.
To do this just select the ‘Access’ tab and the access menu will be given to you and follow the instructions on the menus

You can add avatar names via chat or enter the name on the ‘access’ notecard, the notecard is the default setting so if you want to put the complete system with scoreboards already setup into your own rezzer your admin list is loaded automatically.  To update names added via the note card click on the ‘Load db’ tab, this will load updated names from the note card.

Cart Rezzers
I have included 2 cart rezzers for you to use.

The first is the LuvCart rezzer, it is all setup, all you need to do is position it near the start line so people can click and rez a cart to race with.

The second is a modify ‘Universal’ cart rezzer
It is already loaded with the Luv carts but you can also add your own carts to it.
This has been tested with the following carts:
Sugar cube ‘Speedster’ cart
ZA carts
Dog cart
you can use any cart as long as the cart can be set for use by anyone, I would suggest also setting the carts to ‘Temp OnRez’ to save having to clear up carts left after use.
Simply drop a copy of your cart into the rezzer then open the ;Items; notecard in the rezzer and enter the name and relative position you want the new cart to rez at.
( examples are in the notecard so just adjust until your happy with the position)

Thats it your finished, I hope you have fun

if you need help send a message to Chianna Nozaki

*********************IMPORTANT********************
To use more than one instance of any event owned by you in the same sim at the same time you will have to give the second and subsequent instances a different course number.
This produces a different channel for each course so each instance of the event will only communicate with its own scoreboards etc
